Tikėk manimi, man nė pusės tiesos nebuvo pasakyta.
Klausykite Jo! (Mt 17:5). Jisraelio Mesijyje atskleistas Dievo palankumas tiems, kurie Jį myli, šlove prašoka apreiškimą, kuris buvo prieinamas žmonijai pirmosios Sansaros veikimo metu. Mesija Jėšūa pabrėžia šią aplinkybė, kai sako mokiniams: Pietų šalies karalienė teismo dieną prisikels drauge su šios kartos žmonėmis ir juos pasmerks. Nes ji atkeliavo nuo žemės pakraščių pasiklausyti Saliamono išminties, o štai čia daugiau negu Saliamonas (Lk 11 : 31) ir „Bet sakau jums: čia daugiau negu šventykla!“ (Mt 12 : 6).
Šlovė, kuria Dievas apšvietė pirmosios Sandoros Savo tautą, tik numatė tos šlovės didybę, kuri įtvirtina Žemėje Dievo Sūnaus Jėšūa, Jisraelio Karaliaus, karalystę. Apie šią, Dievui klusniam Jisraeliui parengtą šlovę, pranašavo Šim‘onas (Simeonas): „...mano akys išvydo Tavo išgelbėjimą, kurį tu prirengei visų tautų akivaizdoje: šviesą pagonims apšviesti ir tavosios Izraelio tautos garbę (Lk 2 : 30-32).
Dievo šlovė – Šechina – niekad neapleido pirmosios Sandoros tautos, tačiau į Dievo planą įeina išplėsti Savo šlovę į visas pasaulio tautas. Tai Jis padaro Savęs vertu būdu: Jis atveria Savo Sandorą kiekvienam žmogui, įeinančiam į ją atitinkantį klusnumo santykį su Karaliumi, Kurį Jis pastato Savo Karalystėje: „Juk aš pasodinau soste savo karalių ant Siono, Savo šventojo kalno! Paskelbsiu VIEŠPATIES įsaką. VIEŠPATS man tarė: ‘Tu esi Mano Sūnus, šiandien Aš Tave pagimdžiau.
Amen“ (1 Tes 3 : 12-13).
„Šabbat Šalom!“ Mesijinė tarnystė kviečia brolius su meile tarnauti pirmosios Sandoros Dievo tautai kasdienėje maldoje už Jisraelį:

The People of Shekhinah

When bringing His prople out of the land of Mitsrayim (Egypt), God vested them with the glory of His power against Mitsrayim troops: And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them:  And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night (Ex 14 : 19-20). Warriors of the army of Mitsrayim could not but properly estimate power of Who had stood up to defend their persecuted people.
The shadow of God's covered Yisrael (Israel) from the very beginning: this was a pillarf of light that lit up the camp of Yisrael and protected it from unwanted guests at nights, however this was a cloud umbrellaing it against the scorching sun at days. No similarly secured resettlement of any people had ever taken place in history whether before or later. This was a manifestation of God's glory, glory of the God of Yisrael .
In His people the Lord revealed His glory. It was His glory but not the fate of Yisrael which was lively discussed among peoples of the region where He led the people. This glory had lightened not only the desert, in which Yisrael went, but all peoples around. One finds this testimony in the Book of Yehoshua (Joshua): ...I know that the Lord hath given you the land, and that your terror is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you. For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed. And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the Lord your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath...» (Joshua 2 : 9-11).
Moshe (Moses) praised the greatness of the glory of God in an anthem he sang after getting rid of the persuing army of Mitsrayim: “In the greatness of Thine excellency Thou hast overthrown them that rose up against Thee (Ex 15 : 7).  Moshe prophetically sees surrounding nations under the impact of God's glory screening Yisrael: The people shall hear, and be afraid: sorrow shall take hold on the inhabitants of Palestine. Then the dukes of Edom shall be amazed; the mighty men of Moab, trembling shall take hold upon them; all the inhabitants of Canaan shall melt away. Fear and dread shall fall upon them; by the greatness of Thine arm they shall be as still as a stone; till Thy people pass over, O Lord, till the people pass over, which Thou hast purchased (Ex 15 : 14-16).
Not an object of God's acquisition is terrible, but the attitude of the Almighty towards this object: it is the gumut of all manifestations of various aspects of the relationship between the Lord and His people that reveals the glory of God of Yisrael to surrounding nations.
The Temple in Yerushalayim (Jerusalem) attracted attention of surrounding nations not so much with the beauty and monumentality of its construction, as with the service performed in it, as well as with miracles, which accompanied this service. Not shine of the Temple's roof became a lighthouse for thirsty souls, but glow of the glory of the living God revealing His mercy to the people which were close to Him. Attracted by the Glory of the God of Yisrael, the wisest persons of the mankind came to test bearers of this glory, but they paid homage to the God of Yisrael when leaving Yerushalayim: “And when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Shelomo (Solomon) concerning the name of the Lord, she came to prove him with hard questions. … [and] ... there was no more spirit in her. And she said to the king, It was a true report that I heard in mine own land of thy acts and of thy wisdom. Howbeit I believed not the words, until I came, and mine eyes had seen it: and, behold, the half was not told me: thy wisdom and prosperity exceedeth the fame which I heard. Happy are thy men, happy are these thy servants, which stand continually before thee, and that hear thy wisdom. Blessed be the Lord thy God, which delighted in thee, to set thee on the throne of Israel: because the Lord loved Israel for ever, therefore made He thee king, to do judgment and justice (1 Kings 10 : 1, 5-9)
For peoples which lived in the darkness was not but urgent to appreciate the light of Covenant concluded between God and the people of Yisrael: And Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel abiding in his tents according to their tribes; and the spirit of God came upon him. And he took up his parable, and said: /.../ How goodly are thy tents, O Jacob, and thy tabernacles, O Israel! As the valleys are they spread forth, as gardens by the river's side, as the trees of lign aloes which the Lord hath planted, and as cedar trees beside the waters. He shall pour the water out of his buckets, and his seed shall be in many waters, and his king shall be higher than Agag, and his kingdom shall be exalted. God brought him forth out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn: he shall eat up the nations his enemies, and shall break their bones, and pierce them through with his arrows. He couched, he lay down as a lion, and as a great lion: who shall stir him up? Blessed is he that blesseth thee, and cursed is he that curseth thee (Numbers 24 : 2-3, 5-9).
This was a rhetorical question put by Moshe, which was clarified not only in visions of the prophets For what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, as the Lord our God is in all things that we call upon him for? And what nation is there so great, that hath statutes and judgments so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day? (Deuteronomium 4 : 7-8). With the power of his glory the Lord introduced main basics of His Law into legislative framework of most nations of the world. This was a blessing: the glory of God reached them.
Kings and lords of many peoples humbled their hearts before the glory of the God of Israel: Then king Darius wrote unto all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you. I make a decree, That in every dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel: for he is the living God, and stedfast for ever, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed, and his dominion shall be even unto the end. He delivereth and rescueth, and he worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions (Daniel 6 : 25.-27).
An advent of the Messiah of Yisrael brings the fullness of revelation concerning the Kingdom of God. It was the Divine glory which flooded the people of God with light, however the glory itself was Yeshua, the King of Yisrael, because Father's grace towards everybody obedient to the Son, is placed in Son: This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye Him (Mathew 17 : 5).  God's grace, revealed in the Messiah of Yisrael to those who love Him, surpasses the glory of revelation available to mankind during the term of the first Covenant. Yeshua stressed this when saying to His pupils: The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation, and condemn them: for she came from the utmost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here (Luke 11 : 31), as well as: But I say unto you, That in this place is One greater than the Temple (Mathew 12 : 6).
The glory, with which God had lightened His people of the first Covenant, only predicted the greatness of glory, which establishes on Earth the Kingdom of Yeshua, the Son of God and the King of Yisrael. The Prophet Simeon prophesied specifically about this glory prepared for obedient to the God of Yisrael: ...For mine eyes have seen Thy salvation, Which Thou hast prepared before the face of all people; A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of Thy people Israel (Luke 2 : 30-32).
God's glory, Shekhinah, has never left the people of the first Covenant, however God's plans are to extend his glory upon all peoples of the Earth, and He does this in a way worthy of his glory. He reveals His Covenant to each person who enters into a covenant relationship of obedience to the King, whom He puts at the head of the Kingdom: Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. I will declare the decree: the Lord hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. Ask of Me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the Earth for thy possession. Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel (Psalms 2 : 6-9). Earlier, at the time of the first Covenant, God's people Yisrael were covered with the glory of God, but now, in time of the New Covenant (Jeremiah 31 : 31-34), Shekhinah dwells before their eyes:  ... mine eyes have seen... (Luke 2: 30). To see means to observe from outside.
The fullness of God's revelation concerning His glory in His New Covenaent with Yissrael is a duplex task for the mankindliving under the cover of the glory of God causes a need to see this glory, as well as to persevere in realization of this need, as Moshe did: “Shew me Thy glory ! (Ex 33 : 18).  On the other hand, a contemplation of God's glory causes a need to enter the glory, to join it and to be under its cover. The latter is realized through emerging of the eternal Temple – the Shekhina of God together with people: And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of Heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God Himself shall be with them, and be their God (Rev 21 : 2-3).
Purpose of God's people Yisrael of the first Covenant, a people according to flesh, was to abide in God's glory. However, in His plan of salvation for all the mankind, God defined a period called “Times of the Gentiles” by the Teacher Yeshua Himself. This was a period from the destruction of Yerushalayim, the capital of Yisrael, up to its comeback under the jurisdiction of Yisrael. This meant desolation of the Promised Land, disaster and expulsion of its people, capture and life in the Galut. Here are Teacher's words about this period: And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh. Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto. For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people. And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled (Luke 21 : 20.-24). This period was called “times of the Gentiles” because former Pagans acquired cover of the glory of God during it. At that time Shekhina remained before the eyes of God's people of the first Covenzant. These were plenty of nations who came to know the glory of God of Yisrael in the name of Yeshua the Messiah. This is evidenced by the apostle Paul: “For God, Who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ (2 Korinthians 4:6). The same Paul reveals mystery of the inability of God's people of the first Covenant enter into the glory of God: For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Zion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: For this is My Covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins (Romans 11 : 25-27).  Teacher Yeshua spoke about this salvation analogously: And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh (Luke 21 : 25-28). Shekhina will cover Yisrael entirely.
Tsefanyah (Zephaniah) dedicates a prophecy to this joyful event of the restitution of glory of Yisrael people of the first Covenant: Sing, O daughter of Zion; shout, O Israel; be glad and rejoice with all the heart, O daughter of Jerusalem. The Lord hath taken away thy judgments, he hath cast out thine enemy: the king of Israel, even the Lord, is in the midst of thee: thou shalt not see evil any more. In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem, Fear thou not: and to Zion, Let not thine hands be slack. The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing. I will gather them that are sorrowful for the solemn assembly, who are of thee, to whom the reproach of it was a burden. Behold, at that time I will undo all that afflict thee: and I will save her that halteth, and gather her that was driven out; and I will get them praise and fame in every land where they have been put to shame. At that time will I bring you again, even in the time that I gather you: for I will make you a name and a praise among all people of the earth, when I turn back your captivity before your eyes, saith the Lord (Zephaniah 3 : 14-20) For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance (Romans 11 : 29) .  Apostle Paul reminds of this in time. He assures the reader that the choice made by God in favor of people of the first Covenant preserves their destiny for glory. This is inevitable to happen in due time because of the immutability of God's love.
What is then the realation of people of the New Covenant to the people of the first Covenant? With no doubt the apostle Paul did not mistake saying: Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus (Philippians 2 : 4-5). True brotherhood of the disciples of Yeshua cannot but have their innermost desire to share the joy of the Lord in the implementation of the prophecy of Tsefanyah: to make name of the Jewish people eminent and honorable among all people of the Earth!
To whom, if not to Yisrael the Lord directs his love through our hearts? - This is the greatest blessing for each of us and for the brotherhood as a whole, cf. Paul: “And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you: To the end He may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints” (1 Thessalonians 3 : 12-13).
“Shabbat Shalom” Messianic Ministry urges the brotherhood to serve God's people of the first Covenant in love and everyday praying for Yisrael:

Jestem Bogiem miłosiernym, odpuszczającym grzechy aż do tysięcznego

dotychczasowe życie i w skrusze przyjdzie do Mnie, a Ja odpuszczę mu

Wielka nagroda czeka tych, którzy wytrwają do końca. Pocieszajcie się
wzajemnie tymi słowy.

Wydawajcie owoc godny opamiętania. Znam wasze serca i wasze motywacje.
Trwajcie we Mnie i wzrastajcie w Mojej miłości.

przed Moim Majestatem i będą chodzić w światłości, bo Ja Jestem
Światłością świata, a ciemność Jej nie przemogła.

Kocham was Moje dzieci i znam każdego z was z imienia.
Wzywam was, przyjdźcie do Mnie, a Ja dam wam ukojenie i poznacie, że to

Szukajcie Mnie, a żyć będziecie. Amejn.

Christmas greetings from ECI

As we celebrate Christmas this year it gives us great joy to know that at last the Jewish people will also be able to celebrate one of their holidays at the United Nations. On Friday, 19th December, the UN announced that Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, will become an official UN holiday – as had been requested by ECI already in 2013.

This is the culmination of many years of hard work together with the Israeli government and we could not have started our Christmas holiday on a better note.

This announcement on Friday shows that our efforts have not been in vain.

Galatians 6:9 teaches us
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

With your help we will continue to persevere in 2016!

In these times of turmoil and challenge let us remind ourselves of the great hope that the Christmas message brings us in Isaiah 9:6.

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace, On the throne of David and over his kingdom, To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness From then on and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will accomplish this.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Holiday miracle in New York:
UN recognises Yom Kippur as official holiday!

UN NYC nightNew York, December 21st, 2015 – In one of the last working days before Christmas, the United Nations has officially recognised the Jewish holiday Yom Kippur as an official UN holiday. For the first time in its 70-year history UN employees who observe Jewish faith will have the day off and there will be no official meetings on this day. The decision implements General Assembly resolution 69/250 which was adopted last year.  The resolution adds Yom Kippur, Day of Vesak, Diwali, Gurpurab, Orthodox Christmas and Orthodox Good Friday in addition to President´s Day, to a floating holiday which the employees can choose for themselves. Christmas Day, Good Friday, Eid al-Fits and Eid al-Adha have previously been recognised as official UN holidays.

The decision comes after two and a half years of active campaigning by the Israeli Permanent Mission to the UN and the European Coalition for Israel. The idea to have the UN recognise Yom Kippur as a holiday was first floated by ECI in a meeting with the Israeli government in the summer of 2013. On October 1st, Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Zeev Elkin presented the request to the Deputy Secretary General of the UN Jan Eliasson in conjunction with the High level week of the 68th session of the UN General Assembly.

But it would take until May 12th, 2014 before the Israeli Ambassador to the UN, Ron Prosorpresented an open letter to all UN member states, requesting their support for the initiative. The request was officially presented at a luncheon of the newly formed ECI initiative Forum for Cultural Diplomacy, which marked 65 years of Israeli membership of the UN.

Sixty-five (38 + 27 EU) UN member states have expressed their support for the request.
The United States, in particular the US Ambassador to the UN, Samantha Power, played a crucial role in agreeing to make the American holiday, President’s day, a floating holiday which can be replaced by any of the new religious holidays. This way the initiative was prevented from being blocked by the anti-Israel majority of the UN. The other religious holidays which were given UN recognition alongside Yom Kippur, were part of a compromise agreement which helped secure the support of UN member states representing other major religions.

In meetings with UN officials in New York on Friday, ECI Director for UN Affairs Gregory Lafitte and ECI Founding Director Tomas Sandell expressed their appreciation over the decision which is an important step for better inclusion of Israel and the Jewish people in the family of nations by respecting their most holy day in the calendar year.

The recognition was made possible thanks to the active support of senior UN officials, including the Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, who on September 21st attended a special Tashlich ceremony at the UN headquarters in preparation for Yom Kippur. The ceremony was hosted by the Israeli Permanent Mission to the UN and the Forum for Cultural Diplomacy.

- This decision shows that Israel has, in fact, many more friends at the UN than those who generally stand with Israel in critical votes. By highlighting the universal values of the Jewish holidays we can bring nations closer to Israel as we at the same time strengthen the values of the UN charter, Lafitte said.

European Coalition for Israel commended the Israeli Permanent Mission to the UN which has tirelessly worked to see the recognition become a reality.

- There could be no better way to commence the Christmas holidays than to celebrate the fact that after 70 years the UN will finally recognise Yom Kippur as an official UN holiday, Sandell concluded.

Knife attacks in the streets of Jerusalem

Dear Friends,

We live in one of the most conflict centered countries in the world. You all know that. But every time we think as Israelis "It can't get much worse than that", it does. This year we faced a severe escalation in terror attacks. As you all know, there were over 1200 cases so far, of Molotov cocktail bottles, stones, and car hits, but the worst for us as civilians is the knife attacks of individual terrorists within the crowded streets, shopping centers and bus stations.
The fear and anxiety of people over the fact that they do not know where the attacking hand will come from created a panic atmosphere among all. We felt the influence of fear at Yad Hashmona as well, as an Arab guy attacked people on the 185 bus that we all take daily, to and from Jerusalem.
Praise God, no one from Yad Hashmona was on the bus at that specific hour, but there are many from the community on that route on a daily basis. We have young students who go to the Messianic school in Jerusalem, Music lessons, and other activities, so prayer is much needed.
The schools are dealing with it too. they try to decrease anxiety and spend time explaining and hearing the children, but its very clear to all that this individualistic "Shahid" (
Muslim martyr) mentality is hard to identify and battle.
One of our YH boys, an 11 year old, suffered from serious panic attacks as he could not handle the media exposure of ISIS threats, terror and knives. He was afraid to leave his room, his bed, and did not eat for days. His Mom asked for much prayer as he is the oldest of 6 kids, and felt it influenced everyone. We also need much prayer for discernment since so many Palestinian workers come to Yad Hashmona daily and of course many of them don't want anything to do with violence.  Fear is very real for all people involved on all sides as this affects everyone.

Emergency meeting of all the security team heads of the neighboring villages at the Harel police station

Final guidelines before entering a hostile Palestinian village to capture terrorists

Security preparations. . .
Because of the close parameter of our settlements to hostile villages, a special emergency meeting was held to alert and brief of the possibility of terrorists entering the communities. You can see in the picture the representation of our ultra orthodox neighboring village, Kiryat Yearim, the secular villages and others, listening to the briefing by the intelligence forces on what to expect. Kindergartens and schools are under special attention. On the other "front", the IDF works in the territories, to catch and deal with terrorism before it gets to the streets. We have 8 serving soldiers at Yad Hashmona, all are doing the important job of protecting our borders.

Yom Kippur conference at Yad Hashmona, praying for the nation and fasting together

New Entry road to Yad Hashmona

On an encouraging note. . .
A few days before the Day of Atonement I received a phone call from an Israeli man who said he wanted to come and spend Yom Kippur with us. We usually don't have guests on that day, because we dedicate it to prayer and fasting. but this man wanted to join and see what we do as believers. Even though we had never met him before, we said yes. He spent the holy day with our family, went to the prayer and reading gathering, heard the singing and petition for the nation and was very touched by the kid's attitudes. He is sincerely seeking more contact with believers and we pray for redemption. His religious background is not easy to be freed from, but God is touching him in a special way.
We have heard a few days after, that more non believers joined the prayers that day, were moved and asked a lot of questions. We see this daily at Yad Hashmona. something is moving in people's hearts and we beg God for a major revelation. Not just a few.

And for some practical things. . .
Our new entry road to the village is progressing. We still need to finish with the traffic and road marking before opening it, but it will be a major upgrade for the community.

Our first graders at "Kita Alef" at ALON secular municipality school

Some of the new IDF believers soldiers at their first conference

Exciting times for our kids. . .
This year for the first time ever, we had the highest number of first graders at the local school: 10 believers children in "Kita Alef" (1st grade) alone!. I know it does not sounds like a lot to you, but for me growing up as the only Messianic believer child in the school, this is a real miracle! In a regular, secular school, a third of the class are believers!!
The Yad Hashmona kids together with other families of believers that live in the close villages, are actually making an influence in the local school because we have so many kids! It is a testimony, and I don't underestimate the power of children and their parents to make a difference. In our daughter's 5th grade class, she started a "competition" of who can memorize all the Bible books list by heart, and told the class we do this at our Shabbat congregation. the youth are bringing friends to their Bible study group, and the small kids make wonderful contacts. A 3rd grader explained in class that YESHUA was Jewish and that she believes in him. This is how the gospel will spread...Halleluya!

Prayer points:
Thank you for being a part of our journey here. Please pray for the safety of Israel, for the ongoing work of believers at the country, for our conferences, camps, projects, volunteers, families and children.

May all we do be to glorify God's name in our lives.

Carta de Jerusalén

Queridos hermanos y hermanas,

Shirley Lawrenson

Time for the EU to take a stand – against terrorism in Israel

Violence2 2015Brussels, 14th October, 2015 –As violence continued to escalate in Jerusalem on Tuesday, EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini issued a statement calling for “Israelis and Palestinians to restore calm.”

In a written statement to Federica Mogherini and in meetings with senior EU-officials in Brussels on Tuesday, ECI Founding DirectorTomas Sandell stressed that “there can be no neutrality in relation to terrorism and the brutal killing of innocent civilians in Jerusalem. As the single largest financial contributor to the Palestinian Authority, the European Union has a moral responsibility to immediately call for a stop of all Palestinian incitement and violence or freeze any further EU financial support. ”

ECI and many concerned Members of European Parliament have for years called for the EU to stop funding hate in the Palestinian territories and have warned of the consequences of sustaining a culture of hatred and incitement throughout society, from Palestinian kindergartens and UNWRA children camps to the highest echelons of power in the Palestinian Authority.

This autumn Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas has called “for filthy Jews not to be allowed on the Temple Mount” and praised ”the pure blood spilled by martyrs in Jerusalem” without any official protests from Brussels or Washington. Meanwhile imams in mosques in the Palestinian territories have called for the killing of Jews, hence fuelling the unprecedented wave of brutal murders of civilians in Jerusalem and elsewhere in Israel in these last days.

In his message in Brussels on Tuesday, Sandell noted that the EU cannot remain neutral by simply calling for “calm on both sides” when innocent Jewish civilians are stabbed to death, but needs to specifically call to account those Palestinian leaders who are responsible for inciting and coordinating the attacks against innocent civilian Jews.

Jewish lives matter, just as much in Jerusalem as in Brussels, Paris and Copenhagen. If the European Union wants to remain “a union of values”, it cannot turn a blind eye, not to mention continue to finance, a regime which is inciting, supporting and orchestrating terrorist actions, he said.

In a series of tweets late on Tuesday night, the European Union´s ambassador to Israel, Lars Faaborg-Andersen, condemned the deadly terrorist attacks against Israelis in Jerusalem.

He writes: “I condemn today’s brutal attacks in Jerusalem. My thoughts are with the families of three more victims of terrorism and the many injured. These attacks not only cause human suffering. They undermine the trust ordinary citizens feel for passers-by in the street, let alone the trust people need as communities if there is to be any prospect for peace.”

One week until deadline for nuclear talks with Iran
- The survival of Israel is non-negotiable!

Negotiations Lausanne April 2015

Helsinki, June 23rd, 2015 – As nuclear talks enter their final week before the proposed deadline of June 30th, the European Coalition for Israel has called on the negotiating team of the G5+1 (The US, UK, France, Russia, Germany and China) to stand firm to ensure that Iran is not able to develop nuclear weapons.

’There can be no further talks with Iran before its leadership recognises the right of the State of Israel to exist and commits to living in peace with all its neighbours’, ECI DirectorTomas Sandell said in a statement in Helsinki on Monday. ’Refusing to recognise another UN member state, in this case Israel, and threatening to exterminate it, is in clear violation of the UN Charter, the 70th Anniversary of which will be commemorated in San Francisco on June 26th.

The leaders of Iran have consistently called for the destruction of the Jewish state while at the same time denying the Holocaust. The vow to ”wipe Israel off the map” was recently declared as a ”non-negotiable” by the Iranian leaders, although this statement has largely been ignored by the negotiating team of the G5+1, who have dismissed the issue as ”not being part of the agenda for the nuclear talks.”

’As long as the objective to annihilate Israel is on the agenda for Iran, the G5+1 should not return to the negotiating table, but keep the sanctions in place’, Sandell said.

’Iran is the main sponsor of international terrorism in the Middle East and should not be rewarded with nuclear capabilities. A nuclear Iran will not bring peace and stability to the region but will further destabilise it and initiate a new nuclear arms race’, he warned.

’The international community needs to keep up the pressure on Iran until a good deal can be achieved’, he continued. ’The EU has a historic commitment not to let down the Jewish people when they are faced with an existential threat. History teaches us that we cannot give in to a regime which is obsessed with the annihilation of the Jews’, Sandell said.

’It is alarming that at the same time as the EU discusses the lifting of sanctions on Iran, European leaders are planning new measures to sanction Israel by starting to label goods produced in the disputed territories.

The EU and the international community is now faced with a moral choice, either to stand up for democracy and the rule of law, or to give in to a rogue regime that persecutes its own people and sponsors international terrorism’, Sandell warned.

The European Coalition for Israel opposes a nuclear deal that would threaten the very survival of the State of Israel. The survival of Israel is non-negotiable.
